In the fall of 2017, the Atlantic Ocean saw three of the largest hurricanes ever on record. They devastated several islands as well as parts of Florida and Texas. Throughout the course of 2018, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball will be completing several large projects centered around disaster relief to help get as many kids as we can back on the field.
Our first disaster relief project of 2018 took place in Houston, Texas with West Oaks Little League. Some of our supporters may know that we worked with West Oaks Little League in 2017 for a disaster relief project as well. The league lost all of their equipment in 2016 when the region was slammed with severe flooding, so PIFBS along with other partners were able to replace all their gear for the 2017 season. We were devastated to learn that when Hurricane Harvey blew through in late 2017, that West Oaks Little League lost all of their equipment all over again.
With the support from Little League International and Wilson Sporting Goods, PIFBS was able to help West Oaks Little League replace all of the gear they lost due to the hurricane! The league got to host their opening day which included lots of fanfare and support from several Houston Astros cheerleaders! The donation totaled more than $26,000 worth of equipment and helped 200 kids on 18 teams play ball this spring! Check out some photos below.
