West Haven Little League Baseball received an equipment grant in 2021 as part of the Little League and DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation Sports Matter Equipment Grant Program. For this initiative PIFBS sent out 3,560 kits to 366 Little Leagues across the country. The leagues would then give those kits to kids most in need of gear to help provide support to families.
The league’s baseball and softball programs also each received an equipment grant from PIFBS in 2020. Located in West Haven, CT, the league includes 15 baseball teams with a total of 200 kids. With the equipment grant, the league hoped to make the game more accessible to lower income families.
“Due to COVID rules all kids were to provide their own glove, bat, and helmet. In many cases, parents who have been out of work could not afford to purchase this equipment. This donation helped keep these kids on the field.” – Carrie Malangone, Co-President
