In Union City, PA, Union City Little League was a recipient of an equipment grant in 2020 as part of the Pirates Charities and Tull Family Foundation program, which provided baseball and softball gear to 20 leagues in Pennsylvania and one program in West Virginia.

Heading into the 2020 season, the league needed to update some of its safety equipment, such as catchers gear and umpire gear. Union City Little League, which serves about 240 children, had planned on a four-week program, but this was cut short due to the pandemic.

The donated equipment allowed the minors age group to have two catchers, each with their own gear to use. The league was also able to provide helmets to kids who didn’t have them, as safety precautions prevented children from sharing equipment.
