Munhall Girls Softball Association in Munhall, PA, was the recipient of an equipment grant in 2020 as part of the Pirates Charities and Tull Family Foundation program, which provided baseball and softball gear to 20 leagues in Pennsylvania and one program in West Virginia.

The league does not turn any girl away for financial reasons. Each year Munhall Girls Softball Association raises funds to cover the cost of registration, uniforms, and gear for players whose families may not be able to afford them.

In 2020, 12U player Riley wanted to be a catcher, but was using child-size catching equipment. The league did not have any other catchers gear to offer at the time, but Riley was too tall for the equipment they had and was uncomfortable behind the plate. After the league applied for and received an equipment grant, this made it possible for Riley to use the proper size gear, and she really excelled behind the plate.
