Lake Orion Youth Baseball, located in Lake Orion, Michigan, received an equipment grant from PIFBS in 2020.

The league was recently absorbed by the Parks & Recreation department, and a lot of their equipment was broken, old, and worn. They wanted to offer a better experience for the 500 kids in their baseball program.

One child had played baseball for three years, and had played catcher just a handful of times before. With COVID-19 guidelines limiting equipment sharing, he was able to keep a set of new catcher’s gear for the season, and he caught at least one inning each game! This season really helped the boy develop a passion for the catcher position and he now hopes to be a catcher for the high school team in a few years.
