Elmira Heights Cinderella Softball League Impact Story

Elmira Heights Cinderella Softball League provides an opportunity for nearly 100 girls to play softball in New York. Earlier this season, some players were using misfitted bats and others were unable to play certain positions because they didn’t have the proper equipment.

After a donation from PIFBS, players built confidence using their new bats and were able to try new positions, like catcher! With the new equipment, Elmira Heights is excited to provide new opportunities for even more girls in 2023.

International Highlight (United Kingdom)

Did you know that baseball has had a presence in the United Kingdom for over 150 years? Today, there are over 1,500 baseball and softball players playing the game we love! PIFBS has supported programs in the UK since 2009. Great Britain will be representing England, Scotland, and Wales during the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

As 2022 is coming near an end, PIFBS staff would like to reflect on our favorite memories from this year.

“I would say that my favorite memory for 2022 was the making of our very first organizational video.  It was an absolute pleasure to connect and chat with kids we have helped in addition to donors and partners and hear from their mouths the impact PIFBS has had on them and their respected communities.  These moments and hearing these stories quite literally makes my heart burst with joy and pride.  And seeing the creative process that JTWO invests into making these videos was fantastic bonus.” -CEO, Meredith Kim

“My favorite memory would have to be our packing event with the Mets at Citi Field. It was so great to meet some of the Mets staff! Everything went so smooth during this event. It was great to see the kids play with the new equipment they just received. The packing event taking place during the sound check for the Motley Crue concert was the icing on the cake.“ -Programs & Equipment Manager, Tim Froggatt

“PIFBS moved in 2022. The warehouse portion was a huge undertaking, and we only had a short amount of time. Our operations staff moved 5 truckloads of equipment (over 150 pallets) & racking with the help of Old Dominon Freight Line. The staff even disassembled and rebuilt our industrial racking. Very proud of the operations staff.” – Chief Operating Officer, Steve

“Among my favorite moments in 2022 were sincere expressions of appreciation about my work at PIFBS. However random they may have seemed, they were huge motivators for me to pitch it forward to someone else. May many random acts of kindness like these circle its way back to you in the new year!” -Program & Office Coordinator, Lauren Nagata
