A Note From Our CEO

Hello,

March has been a meaningful and energizing month at Pitch In For Baseball & Softball as one of our busiest months of the year.

Last month, our community came together in powerful ways.

  • Supporters showed up for our Spring Auction, launched fundraising and equipment collection projects, and helped us share more stories of impact.
  • PIFBS attended the Little League Congress and RBI Institute, which allows us to connect with those we serve as well as the partners that make our work possible.
  • Hosted our 11th Annual Twin Cities School-Based Program in partnership with the Twins Community Fund.
  • We also welcomed new leadership to the Board of Directors and continued highlighting how access to sport builds confidence, connection, and opportunity for the kids and communities we serve.

With the baseball season underway, we are especially excited to bring back our Phillies Community Day on April 18th. After a two year hiatus, we are looking forward to gathering old and new friends alike along with grantees, donors, and volunteers. I hope you will join us! It will be a fun evening packed with lots of fun giveaways, see a PIFBS donor toss out the first pitch, and watch our newest video on the jumbotron!

Thank you for being part of this work. Because of your support, more kids are getting the chance to step onto the field and play.

With gratitude,
Meredith P. Kim
CEO, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball

P.S. Reach out to us for more information on how you can get involved or to share your ideas on spreading joy and unity through sports.

February Impact Snapshot

These are PIFBS impact numbers for February and they reflect the reach your support made possible last month.

  • 27 states reached across the U.S.
  • 2 countries served
  • 11,072 kids supported
  • $343,365 in donated baseball and softball equipment distributed

These numbers represent more than gear. They represent access, confidence, and new opportunities for young athletes to play, grow, and belong.

Monthly Highlights

Supporting Recovery in Maui Through the Power of Play

This month, we shared an important reminder that disaster recovery is long-term work. In Maui, youth programs are still rebuilding after the devastating fires that impacted Lahaina and surrounding communities. Through our partnership with Kurt Suzuki and the Kurt Suzuki Foundation, PIFBS delivered equipment to three organizations across the island, helping young athletes regain access to the game and the sense of stability it can provide.

For these kids, baseball and softball are more than activities. They are community, healing, and a return to something familiar. We are proud to continue supporting youth in Maui and beyond as recovery continues.

Welcoming Raphael Collins to the PIFBS Board of Directors

We were thrilled this month to welcome Raphael Collins to the Pitch In For Baseball & Softball Board of Directors. Raphael brings more than 15 years of experience in professional sports, community leadership, and mission-driven work, along with a personal understanding of how access to sports can shape a young person’s life.

His background and perspective will be a strong asset as PIFBS continues expanding opportunity through the power of baseball and softball. We are excited to welcome Raphael to the team and look forward to the impact he will help drive.

Community-Led Giving Continues to Make a Difference

One of the most encouraging themes this month was the number of supporters finding personal ways to help kids play ball. We highlighted Rex and his Bar Mitzvah project, which combines fundraising with a baseball and softball equipment collection to help expand access to the game for other young athletes.

We also celebrated community-driven equipment donations, including a meaningful project led by the Raskin family. These efforts are a powerful reminder that individual acts of generosity can create real opportunities for kids who simply need the right gear and a chance to play ball.

Stephany’s Story: A Chance to Play, A Chance to Grow

Stephany loves the game. But like so many young athletes, access to the right equipment stood in the way of fully stepping onto the field. Without what she needed to play, it became harder to participate, improve, and feel like part of the team.

Through Pitch In For Baseball & Softball, Stephany received the equipment that made it possible to keep going. What followed was more than just playing again. It was renewed confidence, a stronger sense of belonging, and the opportunity to grow alongside her teammates.

Stephany’s story is a reminder that when we remove barriers, we do more than support a game. We help unlock potential, build confidence, and give young athletes the chance to thrive.

Phillies Community Day Is Coming Up on April 18

With baseball season here, we are excited to build momentum toward Phillies Community Day on April 18 at Citizens Bank Park. This month, we shared ticket availability, group opportunities, event giveaways, and how every purchase through PIFBS supports youth baseball and softball programs nationwide.

This event is designed to bring people together for a great day at the ballpark while also helping more kids get the equipment they need to play.

  • Tickets are now available
  • Group seating makes it easy for teams, families, and friends to attend together
  • Every ticket supports youth baseball and softball programs nationwide
