The Taiwan Fund for Children and Family Keelung Center Baseball Community Little League applied for and was awarded an equipment grant from PIFBS in 2020.

Almost a quarter of the children who join the league come from low-income families, and need assistance to be able to play ball. Many people also lost their jobs in 2020 due to COVID-19, making it even more of a challenge.

One boy was 12 years old, the third of five children in his family. His father is a construction worker and works almost every day, but the family dealt with financial challenges nonetheless. The boy was diagnosed with ADHD, but since he joined the baseball team, he found relief for his symptoms. Baseball helped him learn communication skills, make friends, and feel calmer after running around on the field all day.
