Pitch In For Baseball & Softball and Mattingly Charities Announce Strategic Partnership to Help More Kids Play Ball

PHILADELPHIA, PA โ€“ September 2015 – Pitch In For Baseball & Softball (PIFBS), a not-for-profit that collects and redistributes new and gently-used baseball and softball equipment to communities in need and Mattingly Charities, a nonprofit focused on helping underprivileged youth by supporting programs which promote baseball and softball participation in conjunction with other developmentally related activities have announced a partnership to increase access to the game for kids.

Within this partnership, PIFBS will serve as a charitable vehicle through which Mattingly Charitiesโ€™ Board members will recommend projects. PIFB will also provide the equipment for the launch of an RBI program in Don Mattinglyโ€™s hometown of Evansville, Indiana in 2016. Mattingly Charities and PIFBS will periodically identify joint projects. Mattingly Charities has donated an estimated $300,000 worth of equipment to PIFB.

โ€œOur mission is to ensure that a lack of baseball equipment never stops anyone from playing baseball,โ€ said Roy Smalley III, former MLB All-Star and Board President of Pitch In For Baseball & Softball. โ€œPitch In For Baseball & Softball and Mattingly Charities share a passion for kids who want to play ball. As a former teammate of Don [Mattingly]โ€™s, I am thrilled that we are able to join forces again, this time to ensure that kids have the gear they need to play.โ€

โ€œMattingly Charities is proud to team up with Pitch In For Baseball & Softball to support their mission to collect and distribute new and gently used baseball/ softball equipment to boys and girls to promote interest in baseball.โ€ said Don Mattingly, Manager Los Angeles Dodgers. โ€œAs Mattingly Charities launches Mattingly RBI (Reviving Baseball In Inner Cities) during the Spring of 2016, in Evansville, Indiana, together we hope to provide disadvantaged youth with that opportunity to experience the game I love so much.โ€
